1The parched wilderness will be glad, and the desert will rejoice and blossom like the crocus.
2It will rejoice like a mountain goat; the glory and honor of Lebanon will be given to it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of Yahvah and the excellency of our god, an admonition and comfort for the weak, for a savior is coming to save them.
3Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble knees.
4Say to those who are of a fearful heart, Be strong, do not fear; look, your god the avenger is coming, even god the savior is coming to save you.
5Then the eyes of the blind will be opened and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
6Then the lame man will jump as a deer and the tongue of the mute will be loosed; for waters are bursting forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.
7And the desolate land will become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water; in the habitation of dragons grass will grow with reeds and rushes.
8And a highway will be there, and it will be called the way of holiness; the unclean will not pass over it; and there will not be a road beside it; in it fools will not err.
9No lion will be there, nor will any ravenous animal go up on it; they will not be found there; but in it the redeemed will walk;
10and the ransomed of Yahvah will return and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy on their heads; they will obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
4He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers; Bashan and Carmel languish, and the flower of Lebanon withers.
5The mountains quake before him and the hills break loose; the land trembles at his presence, yes, the world and all that live in it.
6Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his wrath? His fury burns like fire, and the mountains melt at his presence.
7Yahvah is good, a great help in the day of trouble; and he knows those who trust in him.
8But with a rushing flood, he will make an utter end of the place of his adversaries, and darkness will pursue his enemies.
15Look on the mountains, the feet of him who brings good news, that publishes peace. Judah, keep your solemn feasts and perform your vows; the wicked will no longer transgress against you, for he is utterly destroyed.
11Where is the lion's den and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion went to enter there, and the lion's whelp, and there was no one to harm them?
12The lion tore in pieces enough to feed his whelps, and ripped apart for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey and his dens with pieces of flesh.
