Altar Restored

Ezra mentions the grant from Cyrus to rebuild the temple. The math points at Ezra, of course.

Ezra 3:1-7

FE 1The 7th month came and the children of Israel were in their cities and the people assembled as 1 man to Jerusalem. M 1 Kings 8:2 2Stood Joshua son of Jozadak and his brothers the priests and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his brothers and they built the altar to the god of Israel to offer burnt offerings on it as it is written in the law of Moses the prophet of god. H Exodus 20:24 3They set the altar on its bases for fear was on them because of the peoples who lived in the cities. They offered burnt offerings on it to the Master, even burnt offerings morning and evening. H Numbers 28:4 4They kept the feast of booths as it is written and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, according to the daily requirements. H Numbers 29:12-13 5Afterward they offered the continual burnt offering both of the new months H Numbers 28:11 and of all the feasts of the Master that were holy H Numbers 28:9 H Numbers 28:18-19 H Numbers 28:26-27 H Numbers 29:1-2 H Numbers 29:7-8 and of everyone who willingly offered a freewill offering to the Master. 6From the 1st day of the 7th month they began to offer burnt offerings to the Master and the temple of the Master was not yet finished. A 2 Samuel 24:25 Ezra 3:1-67They gave silver to the masons and to the craftsmen and food and drink and oil to the Tyrians and the Sidonians to bring cedar trees from Lebanon by the sea to Joppa M 1 Kings 5:6 according to the grant that they had from Cyrus king of Persia. Ezra 3:7 (Ezra 3:1-7 BRB)

7+1+1+7 = 16 = Ezra

The reference to the grant from Cyrus points at the story at the beginning of Ezra.

1In the 1st year of Cyrus, king of Persia, FE that the word of the Master by the mouth of Jeremiah the prophet might be fulfilled, the Master stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia, and he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing, saying: Ezra 1:12Cyrus, king of Persia, says: Ezra 1:2All the kingdoms of the land FE the Master, the god of the skies, has given me. He has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, the city which is in Judah. 3Who is there among you of all his people, his god be with him, let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of FE the Master, the god of Israel. He is the god who is in Jerusalem. 4All who remain from any place where he temporarily resides, let the men of his place help him 1|4 with silver, 2|4 and with gold, 3|4 and with livestock, 4|4 and with animals, together with the freewill offering for the house of god which is in Jerusalem. Ezra 1:2-4 (Ezra 1:1-4 BRB)

Cyrus requested that anyone who wanted to help donate not only building materials like gold and silver, but animals for offerings. This fits with the restoration of the altar and sacrifices recorded in Ezra 3.
