Isaiah Jeremiah
Isaiah chapter 14 covers the Call of Jeremiah story in the book of Jeremiah.
28The burden of Philistia: In the year that King Ahaz died, this burden came:
29Do not rejoice whole Philistia because the rod of him who struck you is broken, for out of the roots of the Hivite went out a snake and his fruit is a flying dragon.
30The firstborn of the poor will feed and the needy will lie down in safety and I will put to death your root with famine and your remnant I will kill.
Isaiah 14:28-3031Howl city. Cry city. All of Philistia is in confusion, for there will come from the north a smoke and no one will be left in their feasts.
32What will one then answer the messengers of the peoples? That the Master has founded Zion and the poor of his people will take refuge in it. I Joel 2:32 Isaiah 14:31-32 (Isaiah 14:28-32 BRB)
Isaiah says I will kill your root with famine, and
your remnant I will slay.
This aligns with Jeremiah's
call to root out and destroy
(Jer 1:9-10).
Isaiah says there will come from the north a smoke.
This aligns with Jeremiah's vision of a boiling caldron facing
North (Jer 1:13).
Isaiah says What will one then answer the messengers
of the nations?
This aligns with Jeremiah's call to speak
to the tribes (or nations) in the gates of Jerusalem
(Jer 1:14-19).
