Isaiah Hebrews
Isaiah chapter 54 and the epistle of Hebrews.
1.1Give praise barren woman,
1.2you who did not bear,
1.3break forth into singing and rejoice
1.4you who have not travailed in delivery,
1.5for more are the children of the barren woman
1.6than the children of her that has a lord, Q Galatians 4:27
1.7says the Master.
2.1Enlarge the place of your tents,
2.2and stretch forth the curtains of your habitations;
2.3do not spare,
2.4lengthen your cords
2.5and strengthen your tent pegs;
3.1for you will expand on the right hand and on the left;
3.2and your seed will inherit the peoples
3.3and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
Isaiah 54:1-34.1Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed;
4.2nor will you be rebuked, for you will not be put to shame;
4.3you will forget the shame of your youth
4.4and will not remember the disgrace of your widowhood any longer.
5.1For the Master will do thus to you;
5.2the Master of Hosts is his name,
5.3and your savior the holy one of Israel;
5.4the God of the whole land, he will be called.
6.1For the Master has called you
6.2as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit,
6.3and as a wife
6.4forsaken from her youth, says your God.
7.1For in a little anger I have forsaken you;
7.2but with my great mercies I will gather you.
8.1In a raging wrath
8.2I hid my face from you,
8.3but with my everlasting kindness
8.4I will have mercy on you,
8.5says the Master your savior.
Isaiah 54:4-89.1This is like the days of Noah to me;
9.2for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should not go over the land any longer,
9.3so I have sworn that I would not be angry with you
9.4nor rebuke you.
10.1For the mountains will be brought low
10.2and the hills bent downward;
10.3but my kindness will not depart from you,
10.4nor will the contract of your peace be removed,
10.5says the Master, the merciful one.
Isaiah 54:9-1011.1Afflicted one, tempest-tossed and not comforted,
11.2I will set your stones in beryl,
11.3and lay your foundations with sapphires.
12.1I will make your walls of jasper
12.2and your gates of crystal
12.3and your borders of precious stones.
13.1All your sons will learn of me; Q John 6:45
13.2and great will be the peace of your sons.
14.1In righteousness you will be established;
14.2you will be far from oppression,
14.3for you will not fear;
14.4and from ruin,
14.5for destruction will not come near you.
15.1All those who are brought back by my hand will enter into you;
15.2and they will be as a place of refuge to your inhabitants.
Isaiah 54:11-1516.1I have created the craftsman who blows the coals in the fire and brings forth an instrument for his work;
16.2and I have created the ravager to destroy.
17.1No weapon that is fashioned against you will prosper;
17.2and every tongue that will rise against you in judgment you will condemn.
17.3This is the heritage of the servants of the Master,
17.4and their righteousness is of me,
17.5says the Master. Isaiah 54:16-17 (Isaiah 54 BRB)
Isaiah talks about a barren woman. This matches Sarah.
Isaiah says this like the days of Noah. This matches Noah.
Isaiah talks about Yahvah building a city. This matches the
city with foundations Abraham sought. Because Hebrews presents
these correlations in a different order than Isaiah, the passage
is provided as one long quote.
B 1|Wa: Isaac to Joseph 7In belief, Noah, when he was warned concerning the things not seen, became fearful, and made an ark H Genesis 6:22 for the life of the children of his house, and by it he condemned the world and became the heir of the righteousness which is in belief.
Hebrews 11:7C 2|Ba: Exodus 8In belief Abraham obeyed when he was called to depart for the land which he was to receive for an inheritance. H Genesis 12:1 He went out not knowing where he was going.
Hebrews 11:89In belief he became a temporary resident in the land which was promised him, as in a foreign land. He lived in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise,
10for he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Hebrews 11:9-10D 3|Ge: Conquest 11In belief Sarah, who was barren, also received strength to conceive an offspring, and delivered a child when she was past age H Genesis 21:2 because she was sure that he who had promised her was believable.
12Therefore, there sprang from one who was as good as dead as many as the stars of the skies in number and as the grains of sand which is on the sea shore innumerable.
Hebrews 11:11-1213These all died in belief, not having received the promise, but they saw it from far away and rejoiced in it, and they acknowledged that they were strangers and pilgrims on land,
14for they who speak so, declare plainly that they seek a city for themselves.
15If they had a desire for that city from which they went out, they had time to return to it again,
16but now it is evident that they desire a better one, that which is in the skies, therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:13-16 (Hebrews 11:7-16 BRB)
