Isaiah Hebrews

Isaiah chapter 54 and the epistle of Hebrews.

FE 1Give praise barren woman, you who did not bear, break forth into singing and rejoice you who have not travailed in delivery, for more are the children of the barren woman than the children of her that has a lord, Q Galatians 4:27 says the Master. 2Enlarge the place of your tents, and stretch forth the curtains of your habitations; do not spare, lengthen your cords and strengthen your tent pegs; 3for you will expand on the right hand and on the left; and your seed will inherit the peoples and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. Isaiah 54:1-34Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; nor will you be rebuked, for you will not be put to shame; you will forget the shame of your youth and will not remember the disgrace of your widowhood any longer. 5For the Master will do thus to you; the Master of hosts is his name, and your savior the holy one of Israel; the god of the whole land he will be called. 6For the Master has called you as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and as a wife forsaken from her youth, says your god. 7For in a little anger I have forsaken you; but with my great mercies I will gather you. 8In a raging wrath I hid my face from you, but with my everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you, says the Master your savior. Isaiah 54:4-89This is like the days of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should not go over the land any longer, so I have sworn that I would not be angry with you nor rebuke you. 10For the mountains will be brought low and the hills bent downward; but my kindness will not depart from you, nor will the contract of your peace be removed, says the Master, the merciful one. Isaiah 54:9-1011Afflicted one, tempest-tossed and not comforted, I will set your stones in beryl, and lay your foundations with sapphires. 12I will make your walls of jasper and your gates of crystal and your borders of precious stones. 13All your sons will learn of me; Q John 6:45 and great will be the peace of your sons. 14In righteousness you will be established; you will be far from oppression, for you will not fear; and from ruin, for destruction will not come near you. 15All those who are brought back by my hand will enter into you; and they will be as a place of refuge to your inhabitants. Isaiah 54:11-1516I have created the craftsman who blows the coals in the fire and brings forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the ravager to destroy. 17No weapon that is fashioned against you will prosper; and every tongue that will rise against you in judgment, you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Master, and their righteousness is of me, says the Master. Isaiah 54:16-17 (Isaiah 54 BRB)

Isaiah talks about a barren woman. This matches Sarah. Isaiah says this like the days of Noah. This matches Noah. Isaiah talks about Yahvah building a city. This matches the city with foundations Abraham sought. Because Hebrews presents these correlations in a different order than Isaiah, the passage is provided as one long quote.

Noah 2|25 7In belief Noah, when he was warned concerning the things not seen, became fearful and made an ark H Genesis 6:22 for the life of the children of his house, and by it, he condemned the world and became the heir of the righteousness which is in belief. Hebrews 11:7Abraham 3|25 8In belief Abraham obeyed when he was called to depart for the land which he was to receive for an inheritance. H Genesis 12:1 He went out not knowing where he was going. 9In belief he became a temporary resident in the land which was promised him, as in a foreign land. He lived in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise, 10for he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is god. Hebrews 11:8-10FA 2 11In belief Sarah, who was barren, also received strength to conceive an offspring, and delivered a child when she was past age H Genesis 21:2 because she was sure that he who had promised her was believable. 12Therefore there sprang from one who was as good as dead as many as the stars of the skies in number and as the grains of sand which is on the sea shore innumerable. Hebrews 11:11-1213These all died in belief, not having received the promise, but they saw it from far away and rejoiced in it, and they acknowledged that they were strangers and pilgrims on land, 14for they who speak so, declare plainly that they seek a city for themselves. 15If they had a desire for that city from which they went out, they had time to return to it again, 16but now it is evident that they desire a better one, that which is in the skies, therefore god is not ashamed to be called their god, for he has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:13-16 (Hebrews 11:7-16 BRB)
