Isaiah 1 Thessalonians
Isaiah chapter 46 and the epistle of 1 Thessalonians.
FE 1Bel has fallen down, Nebo is overthrown; their idols were loaded as burdens on animals, yes, on weary animals and cattle.
2They were overthrown, they have fallen down together; they could not rescue those who carried them, but they themselves are gone into captivity.
Isaiah 46:1-23Listen to me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, even those who are borne in the belly and who are still carried in the womb,
4even to your old age I am he; and even to gray hairs I will endure. I have made and I will sustain; even I will carry and will deliver.
Isaiah 46:3-45To whom will you liken me and make me equal and compare me, that we may be alike?
6To those who go astray, who pour out gold from their bags and weigh silver in the balance and hire a goldsmith; and they make it a god; they fall down, they bow to it?
7They bear it on their shoulders, they carry it and set it in its place, and it cannot rise up from its place; they also cry to it, but it does not answer them nor save them from their troubles.
Isaiah 46:5-78Remember these things and discern; bring it again to your mind, transgressors.
9Remember the former things of old; for I am god, and there is no other god; and there is no one like me,
10declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel will stand, and I will do all my pleasure,
11calling a ruler swift as a bird from the east, the man who executes my counsel from a far land; yes, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
12Listen to me, stubborn of heart, that are far from righteousness;
13my righteousness is near; it will not be far off, my salvation will not tarry; and I will give salvation in Zion and for Israel my glory. Isaiah 46:8-13 (Isaiah 46 BRB)
Idol
9for these people themselves relate how we entered 1st among you and how you turned to god from the worship of idols, to serve the god of the living and true, (1 Thessalonians 1:9 BRB)
Deliver
10to wait for his son from the skies, even Joshua, whom he raised from the dead, for it is he who will deliver us from the wrath to come. (1 Thessalonians 1:10 BRB)
Bear
6We have not sought glory from the children of men, not from you nor from others, when we could have been honored as apostles of the anointed.
7We were meek when we were among you and like a foster mother who loves her sons.
8Likewise we affectionately desire to give you not only the thinking of god, but even our lives, because you were dear to us.
9For you remember, brothers, that we labored hard, working night and day with our hands, so that we would not burden you. 1 Thessalonians 2:6-9 (1 Thessalonians 2:6-9 BRB)
Pass
FA 1Because we did not resist we decided to remain at Athens alone,
2and send Timothy, our brother, a minister of god and our helper in the thinking of the anointed, to sustain you and comfort you concerning your belief,
3so that no man among you might be disheartened by these tribulations, for you yourselves know that this is our destiny.
4For assuredly, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulations, even as it has come to pass, and as you know. 1 Thessalonians 3:1-5 (1 Thessalonians 3:1-4 BRB)
