1.1Listen, house of Jacob,
1.2who are called by the name of Israel
1.3and are come out from the loins of Judah,
1.4who swear by the name of the Master
1.5and make mention of the God of Israel,
1.6but not in truth nor in righteousness.
2.1For they are called out of the holy city
2.2and they rely on the God of Israel;
2.3the Master of Hosts is his name.
3.1I have declared the former things from the beginning
3.2and they went forth out of my mouth and I showed them to you;
3.3I did them suddenly and they came to pass.
4.1Because I knew that you are obstinate
4.2and your neck is an iron sinew
4.3and between your eyes brass;
5.1I have made them known to you from of old;
5.2before they came to pass I declared them to you,
5.3lest you should say,
5.4My idols did them;
5.5and my graven images and my molten images have saved me.
6.1I have heard and seen all these things;
6.2and you did not declare them.
Isaiah 48:1-66.3I have proclaimed to you new things from this time,
6.4even hidden things, and you did not know them.
7.1They are created now, and not of old;
7.2even before the day when you did not hear of them,
7.3lest you should say,
7.4I knew them.
8.1Yes, you have neither heard nor known of them;
8.2nor were your ears opened of old;
8.3for I knew that you surely would lie
8.4and that you were called a wicked one from the womb.
9.1For my name's sake I will defer my anger,
9.2and for my praise I will keep you,
9.3and I will not destroy you.
10.1I have refined you, but not with silver;
10.2I have purified you in the furnace of affliction.
11.1For my own sake, I will do it,
11.2that my name may not be polluted
11.3and that I may not give my glory to another.
Isaiah 48:6.3-11 12.1Listen to me, Jacob
12.2and Israel, whom I called;
12.3I am he;
12.4I am the 1st, I am also the last.
13.1My hand has laid the foundations of the land,
13.2and my right hand has stretched out the skies;
13.3when I call to them,
13.4they stand up together.
Isaiah 48:12-1314.1Assemble, all of you, and listen;
14.2who is there among you who can declare these things?
14.3The Master has loved him,
14.4that he may do his will on Babel
14.5and on the land of the Chaldeans.
15.1I, even I, have spoken;
15.2yes, I have also called him;
15.3I have brought him
15.4and I have made his way prosperous.
Isaiah 48:14-1516.1Come near to me, listen to this:
16.2I have not spoken in secret,
16.3from the beginning, from the creation, there I am;
Isaiah 48:1616.4and now the Master God has sent me
16.5and his Spirit.
Isaiah 48:16.4-1617.1The Master says,
117.2your savior, the holy one of Israel,
17.3I am the Master your God
17.4who teaches you not to do wrong,
17.5who leads you by the way that you should go.
18.1That you had listened to my commandments.
18.2Then your peace would have been as a river,
18.3and your righteousness as the waves of the sea;
19.1your seed would have also been as the sand,
19.2and the offspring of your loins like its gravel;
19.3their name would not perish
19.4nor be destroyed from before me.
Isaiah 48:17-1920.1Go forth from Babel,
20.2flee from the Chaldeans;
20.3with a voice of singing declare this,
20.4proclaim it,
20.5and publish it even to the ends of the land;
20.6say, The Master has saved his servant Jacob.
21.1They did not thirst when he led them through the desert.
21.2He caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them.
21.3He bored through the rock
21.4and the waters gushed out.
Isaiah 48:20-2122There is no peace to the wicked, says the Master. Isaiah 48:22 (Isaiah 48 BRB)
