Isaiah 1 Peter

Isaiah chapter 61 covers the Living Stone passage in the epistle of 1 Peter.

FE 1The spirit of the Master God is upon me because the Master has anointed me and sent me to preach to the oppressed and to bind up the broken hearts and to call liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners 2and to call the acceptable year of the Master, Q Luke 4:18 and the day of the salvation of our god; to comfort all that mourn; 3to give to the mourners of Zion beauty instead of ashes, perfume instead of mourning, a cloak of beauty instead of the spirit of heaviness. They will be called men of righteousness, the planting of the Master which is glorious. Isaiah 61:1-34They will build the old ruins, they will raise up the former desolations, and they will repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. 5Strangers will stand and feed your flocks, and the children of the alien will be your plowmen and your vinedressers. 6But you will be named the priests of the Master; men will call you the ministers of our god; you will eat the riches of the peoples, and in their glory you will boast yourselves. Isaiah 61:4-67Instead of your shame and your confusion, you will have a double inheritance in their lands, and you will rejoice in their portion; everlasting joy will be yours. Isaiah 61:78For I, the Master, love justice, and I hate robbery and iniquity; I will direct your work in truth and I will make an everlasting contract with you. 9Your seed will be known among the peoples, and your offspring among the peoples; all who see you will recognize you, that you are the seed that the Master has blessed. Isaiah 61:8-910I will greatly rejoice in the Master and my soul will be joyful in my god; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself in splendor and as a bride adorns herself with jewels. 11For as the land brings forth its branch and as the garden causes the seed which is sown in it to spring forth, so the Master God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the peoples. Isaiah 61:10-11 (Isaiah 61 BRB)

Isaiah says they will build the old ruins, they will raise up the former desolations, and they will repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. Peter writes about the "living stones" that build up the house (1 Pet 2:4-8).

Isaiah says you will be named the priests of Yahvah; men will call you the ministers of our god. In First Peter the term "priests" is used to describe these living stones (1 Pet 2:9-10).
