Isaiah 1 Peter
Isaiah chapter 61 covers the Living Stone passage in the
epistle of 1 Peter.
1.1The Spirit of the Master God is upon me
1.2because the Master has anointed me
1.3and sent me to preach to the oppressed
1.4and to bind up the broken hearts
1.5and to call liberty to the captives
1.6and release to the prisoners
2.1and to call the acceptable year of the Master, Q Luke 4:18
2.2and the day of the salvation of our God;
2.3to comfort all that mourn;
3.1to give to the mourners of Zion
3.2beauty instead of ashes,
3.3perfume instead of mourning,
3.4a cloak of beauty instead of the spirit of heaviness.
3.5They will be called men of righteousness,
3.6the planting of the Master which is glorious.
Isaiah 61:1-34.1They will build the old ruins,
4.2they will raise up the former desolations,
4.3and they will repair the waste cities,
4.4the desolations of many generations.
5.1Strangers will stand and feed your flocks,
5.2and the children of the alien will be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6.1But you will be named the priests of the Master;
6.2men will call you the ministers of our God;
6.3you will eat the riches of the peoples,
6.4and in their glory you will boast yourselves.
Isaiah 61:4-67.1Instead of your shame and your confusion,
7.2you will have a double inheritance in their lands,
7.3and you will rejoice in their portion;
7.4everlasting joy will be yours.
Isaiah 61:78.1For I, the Master, love justice,
8.2and I hate robbery and iniquity;
8.3I will direct your work in truth
8.4and I will make an everlasting contract with you.
9.1Your seed will be known among the peoples,
9.2and your offspring among the peoples;
9.3all who see you will recognize you,
9.4that you are the seed that the Master has blessed.
Isaiah 61:8-910.1I will greatly rejoice in the Master
10.2and my soul will be joyful in my God;
10.3for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
10.4he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
10.5as a bridegroom decks himself in splendor
10.6and as a bride adorns herself with jewels.
11.1For as the land brings forth its branch
11.2and as the garden causes the seed which is sown in it to spring forth,
11.3so the Master God will cause righteousness and praise
11.4to spring forth before all the peoples. Isaiah 61:10-11 (Isaiah 61 BRB)
Isaiah says they will build the old ruins, they will
raise up the former desolations, and they will repair the
waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
Peter writes about the "living stones" that build up the
house (1 Pet 2:4-8).
Isaiah says you will be named the priests of Yahvah;
men will call you the ministers of our god.
In First Peter
the term "priests" is used to describe these living stones
(1 Pet 2:9-10).
