Isaiah Proverbs

Isaiah chapter 29 and the book of Proverbs.

FE 1Woe Ariel, Ariel, the city where David lived. Add year to year. Let them keep festivals. 2Yet I will distress Ariel and there will be heaviness and lamentations and it will be to me as Ariel. 3I will camp against you all around and I will lay a siege against you with ramparts and I will raise forts against you. 4You will be brought down and will speak from the land and your words will be low out of the dust and your voice will be heard from the ground like that of a diviner and your speech will whisper out of the dust. Isaiah 29:1-45The multitude of your oppressors will be like fine dust and the multitude of the terrible ones will be as the chaff that passes away, yes, it will be in an instant, suddenly. 6You will be visited by the Master of hosts with quakes and thunder and great noise and with storm and tempest and the flame of devouring fire. 7The multitude of all the peoples that fight against Zion, even all the armies and multitudes that distress her, will be as a vision in the night. 8It will be even as when a hungry man dreams that he is eating and when he awakes he is weary and famished, or as when a thirsty man dreams that he is drinking, but when he awakes he is faint with his thirst not quenched, so will be the multitude of all the peoples that fight against the mount of Zion. Isaiah 29:5-89They are dumbfounded and amazed and they are troubled and stagger and they are drunk, but not with wine and they stagger, but not with strong drink. 10For the Master has poured out on them a spirit of deep sleep and it has closed their eyes and also the eyes of the prophets and rulers and the seers who see the hidden things. Isaiah 29:9-1011The vision of all is become to them as the words of a scroll that is sealed which men deliver to one who is learned, a scribe of scrolls, saying, Read this, and he says, I cannot for it is sealed, 12and the scroll is given to him who is not learned saying, Read this, and he says, I am not learned. Isaiah 29:11-1213The Master said: Since this people draw near with their mouth and with their lips honor, but have removed their heart far from me and their fear toward me is by the commandments and teachings of men, Q Matthew 15:8 Q Mark 7:6-7 14therefore I will proceed to set apart this people by a great wonder and in a marvelous manner, and the wisdom of their wise men will perish and the understanding of their prudent men will be taken away. Q 1 Corinthians 1:19 15Woe to those who act perversely to hide their counsel from the Master and their works are in the dark and they say, Who sees us? Who knows what we do corruptly? 16Surely you are esteemed as the potter's clay, for will the work say to him who made it, You did not make me, and the thing formed say of him who formed it, He had no understanding? Q Romans 9:20 Isaiah 29:13-16FE 17A little while and Lebanon will be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field will be reared as a forest. 18In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll and the eyes of the blind will see out of darkness and obscurity. 19The meek will also increase their joy in the Master and the needy man will rejoice in the holy one of Israel. 20For the oppressor is brought to nothing and the scorner is consumed and all that incite to iniquity are cut off. 21Those who cause a man to sin by the word and lay a snare for him who reprimands and turn aside the righteous into darkness. Isaiah 29:17-2122Therefore, thus says the Master, who saved Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: Jacob will not be ashamed now, nor will his face grow pale now. 23But when his sons see the work of my hands in the middle of him they will holy my name and holy the holy one of Jacob and will glorify the god of Israel. 24The foolish ones whose spirit also erred will come to understanding and fools will learn to be obedient.
