1.1Come down and sit in the dust
1.2virgin daughter of Babel,
1.3sit on the ground; there is no throne,
1.4daughter of the Chaldeans;
1.5for you will not be called,
1.6Tender, and, Delicate, any longer.
2.1Take the millstone and grind flour;
2.2remove your veil, cut off your white hair,
2.3uncover your legs,
2.4pass through the rivers.
3.1Your nakedness will be uncovered,
3.2yes, your shame will be seen;
3.3I will execute vengeance on you,
3.4and I will not meet among you a man.
Isaiah 47:1-34.1As for our savior, the Master of Hosts is his name,
4.2the holy one of Israel.
Isaiah 47:45.1Sit silent and go into darkness,
5.2daughter of the Chaldeans;
5.3for you will not be called,
5.4The mightiest of kingdoms, any longer.
6.1I was angry with my people,
6.2for they have polluted my inheritance,
6.3so I delivered them into your hands;
6.4you showed them no mercy;
6.5on the elders
6.6you have very heavily laid your yoke.
7.1You said,
7.2I will be a mighty one forever;
7.3so that you did not lay these things to your heart,
7.4nor remembered its end.
Isaiah 47:5-78.1Now let her listen to these things,
8.2she who is given to pleasures,
8.3who lives in tranquility,
8.4who says in her heart,
8.5I am, and there is no one else besides me;
8.6I will not sit as a widow,
8.7nor will I know the loss of sons;
9.1but these 2 plagues will come on you
9.2in a moment, in 1 day,
9.3the loss of sons and widowhood;
9.4they will come on you suddenly,
9.5for the multitude of your sorceries,
9.6and for the multitude of your magicians.
10.1For you have trusted in your wickedness;
10.2you have said, No one sees me.
10.3Your wisdom and your knowledge have misled you;
10.4and you have said in your heart,
10.5I am, and there is no one else besides me.
11.1Therefore evil will come on you in the early morning,
11.2and you will not know where it rises from;
11.3and mischief will fall on you
11.4and you will not be able to put it off;
11.5and desolation will come on you suddenly,
11.6which you will not know.
Isaiah 47:8-1112.1Stand now with your magicians
12.2and with the multitude of your sorceries
12.3in which you have labored from your youth;
12.4perhaps you may be able to profit,
12.5perhaps you may strengthen yourself.
13.1You are wearied in the multitude of your thoughts.
13.2Let the Chaldeans stand up now and save you,
13.3those who gaze into the skies and at the stars;
13.4let them foretell by the moon the things that will come on you.
14.1They have become as stubble
14.2which is consumed by the fire;
14.3they will not deliver themselves
14.4from the power of the flame;
14.5there are no coals to warm them,
14.6nor fire to sit before.
15.1Thus they have become to you,
15.2your merchants with whom
15.3you have labored from your youth;
15.4they have wandered each to his quarter,
15.5and there is none to save you. Isaiah 47:12-15 (Isaiah 47 BRB)
