Isaiah 2 Thessalonians
Isaiah chapter 47 and the epistle of 2 Thessalonians.
FE 1Come down and sit in the dust virgin daughter of Babel, sit on the ground; there is no throne, daughter of the Chaldeans; for you will not be called, Tender, and, Delicate, any longer.
2Take the millstone and grind flour; remove your veil, cut off your white hair, uncover your legs, pass through the rivers.
3Your nakedness will be uncovered, yes, your shame will be seen; I will execute vengeance on you, and I will not meet among you a man.
Isaiah 47:1-34As for our savior, the Master of hosts is his name, the holy one of Israel.
Isaiah 47:45Sit silent and go into darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans; for you will not be called, The mightiest of kingdoms, any longer.
6I was angry with my people, for they have polluted my inheritance, so I delivered them into your hands; you showed them no mercy; on the elders you have very heavily laid your yoke.
7You said, I will be a mighty one forever; so that you did not lay these things to your heart, nor remembered its end.
Isaiah 47:5-78Now let her listen to these things, she who is given to pleasures, who lives in tranquility, who says in her heart, I am, and there is no one else besides me; I will not sit as a widow, nor will I know the loss of sons;
9but these 2 plagues will come on you in a moment, in 1 day, the loss of sons and widowhood; they will come on you suddenly, for the multitude of your sorceries, and for the multitude of your magicians.
10For you have trusted in your wickedness; you have said, No one sees me. Your wisdom and your knowledge have misled you; and you have said in your heart, I am, and there is no one else besides me.
11Therefore evil will come on you in the early morning, and you will not know where it rises from; and mischief will fall on you and you will not be able to put it off; and desolation will come on you suddenly, which you will not know.
Isaiah 47:8-1112Stand now with your magicians and with the multitude of your sorceries in which you have labored from your youth; perhaps you may be able to profit, perhaps you may strengthen yourself.
13You are wearied in the multitude of your thoughts. Let the Chaldeans stand up now and save you, those who gaze into the skies and at the stars; let them foretell by the moon the things that will come on you.
14They have become as stubble which is consumed by the fire; they will not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; there are no coals to warm them, nor fire to sit before.
15Thus they have become to you, your merchants with whom you have labored from your youth; they have wandered each to his quarter, and there is none to save you. Isaiah 47:12-15 (Isaiah 47 BRB)
God's Judgment
5This is an example of the righteous judgment of god, that you may be made worthy of his kingdom, for which you also suffer. 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10 (2 Thessalonians 1:5 BRB)
Trouble
6If it seems a righteous thing before the presence of god he will repay tribulation to those who oppress you.
7To you who are oppressed he will grant to be at peace with us when our master Joshua the anointed will be revealed from the skies with the host of his kings, (2 Thessalonians 1:6-7 BRB)
End
8at which time he will avenge with flaming fire those who do not know god and do not acknowledge the thinking of our master Joshua the anointed.
9For they in judgment will be rewarded with everlasting destruction from the presence of our master and from the glory of his power
10when he comes to be glorified by his holy and to perform his wonders among his believers, so that our testimony concerning you may be believed in that day. (2 Thessalonians 1:8-10 BRB)
As God
3Let no man deceive you by any means, for that day will not come, unless it is preceded by a rebellion, and the man of sin will be revealed as the son of destruction A 2 Samuel 11:5
4who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called god and reverenced so that even in the temple of god he sits as a god and shows himself as though he were a god. A 1 Kings 8:1 (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 BRB)
Sorcery
6You know what is restraining him now, that he may be revealed in his time,
7for the mystery of iniquity is already at work until that which is now the obstacle is taken out of the way. (2 Thessalonians 2:6-7 BRB)
Fire
8Then the wicked one will be exposed, that one whom our master Joshua will consume with the breath of his mouth, and will destroy with the revelation of his coming,
9even he whose coming is due to the working of the accuser, with all power and signs and lying wonders, (2 Thessalonians 2:8-9 BRB)
Saved
10and with all deceitfulness of unrighteousness in those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth that they might have life. (2 Thessalonians 2:10 BRB)
