Isaiah 2 Timothy

Isaiah chapter 49 and the epistle of 2 Timothy.

FE 1Listen to me, islands; listen to me, peoples, the Master has called me from far away; from the womb, and from the body of my mother he has made mention of my name. 2He has made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he has hidden me and made me a chosen arrow; in his quiver he has hidden me, 3and said to me, You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified. 4I have not said to the children of Jacob that I have labored in vain, nor that I have spent my strength for nothing. Surely my judgment is before the Master, and my work before my god. Isaiah 49:1-45Now, thus says the Master, who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel together; I am glorified in the eyes of the Master, and my god has become my strength. 6He said, It is a small thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the heirs of Israel; I have given you to be a light to the peoples, that you might be my salvation to the ends of the land. Q Acts 13:47 Isaiah 49:5-67Thus says the Master the holy one of Israel and his savior to him whose soul is despised, to him who is abhorred by the people and by the servants of the rulers, Kings will see and arise, princes will also bow to him, because of the Master who is faithful and the holy one of Israel who has chosen you. Isaiah 49:78Thus says the Master: In an acceptable time I have answered you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you; Q 2 Corinthians 6:2 and I have formed you and have given you for a contract to the people and a light to the peoples, to establish the land, to cause you to inherit the desolate heritages; 9that you may say to the prisoners, Go forth; to those who are shut up, Show yourselves, come out. Isaiah 49:8-9They will feed in the paths and their pastures will be in all highways. 10They will not hunger nor thirst; nor will the sultry heat nor the sun strike them; for he who is merciful to them will lead them, and by the springs of water he will bring them. 11I will make all mountains to be highways, and the highways will be exalted. 12These will come from far away, and these from the north and from the islands of the sea, and these from the coast of Aswan. Isaiah 49:9-1213Sing, skies, and be joyful, land, and break forth into singing, mountains; for the Master has comforted his people and will have mercy on his afflicted. Isaiah 49:1314But Zion said, The Master has forsaken me and the Master has forgotten me. Isaiah 49:1415Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, but I will not forget you. 16I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your fortified walls are continually before me. 17Your sons who caused your destruction and those who laid you waste will make haste and go forth from you. 18Lift up your eyes all around and look; they gather themselves together and come to you. As I live, says the Master, you will surely clothe yourself with all of them as with an ornament, and you will be adorned like a bride. Isaiah 49:15-1819For your waste and your desolate places and the land of your destruction will even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up will flee away. 20The sons which you will have during the time of your bereavement will say again in your ears, The place is too narrow for us; make room for us to live. S 2 Kings 6:1 21You will say in your heart, Who has borne me these? For I have been bereaved and barren, a captive, and wandering to and fro. Who has brought up these? I was left alone; and these sons, where have they been? Isaiah 49:19-2122Thus says the Master God: I will lift up my hand to the peoples and set up my standard to the peoples; and they will bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters will be carried on their shoulders. 23Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers; they will bow down to you with their faces to the ground and will lick the dust off your feet; and you will know that I am the Master; for they who wait for me will not be ashamed. Isaiah 49:22-2324Can the prey be taken away from the mighty, or a lawful captive delivered? Isaiah 49:2425For that, thus says the Master: Even the prey of the mighty will be taken away and the captives of the mighty will be delivered; and I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your sons. 26I will cause your oppressors to eat their own flesh; and they will be drunk with their own blood as with new wine; and all men will know that I, the Master, am your savior and your helper, the mighty one of Jacob. Isaiah 49:25-26 (Isaiah 49 BRB)

Calling

9who has given us life and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own will and grace which was given us by Joshua the anointed before the world began, (2 Timothy 1:9 BRB)

Trust

12Because of this I suffer these things. I am not ashamed for I know whom I have believed and I am sure it has come into his hands to preserve me to that day. (2 Timothy 1:12 BRB)

Gentiles

17My master stood by me and strengthened me that by me the preaching might be finished and that all the peoples might hear. I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. (2 Timothy 4:17 BRB)
